Fitting an overdrive unit into a series LR

Easy this one!

1) Remove centre seat/battery box if your a 24volter like myself. This is honestly the hardest part!

2) Attach the lever support bar to the top two bolts at the gearbox/transfer box join.

3) Drill a hole in the transmission tunnel big enough to get a pen through. From the floor/seat box join measure 108mm up and 54mm towards the engine and drill this hole. poke pen through hole and it should hit the lever pivot arm.
4) Measure difference between pen mark and pivot point for the lever. Transfer measurements to transmission tunnel and drill a 50mm hole.
5) Attach lever to pivot arm through this hole.

(another lever to rattle, looks more like a tractor everyday)
6) Remove the top cover from the transfer box and also the roundish cover beyond the output shaft
7) From in the back of the transfer box you need to bend out the lock tab and remove the mainshaft nut and the locktabs/gear and washers behind it.

8) Fit the clutch gear that you got with the overdrive onto the mainshaft, and using a new locktap, replace the mainshaft nut.

9) Thread overdrive over the clutch gear and into the back of the transfer box. Do up the fixings and attach lever operating arm.
10) Replace the top of the transfer box. Don't do what I did and drop a tab end in through the top hole, I had to drain the box and refill with new oil.
11) Fill the overdrive with EP90

12) Replace centre seat/battery box.
13) Test drive and notice the difference - I can get 65mph out my 109 now although thats not the point is it? You'll notice your fuel will last longer as the engine doesn't rev its nuts off on the motorway anymore. In fact at any speed above 40mph, plug the overdrive in and you should be more fuel efficient. So 65mph on a motorway using the same amount of fuel or drive at 55mph and save fuel and have a conversation - its your choice!
