Torbay Steam Rally 2007
Despite
early weather forecasts it was a glorious sunny weekend, there was no sign
of rain at all which we were expecting on Sunday.
The Torbay Steam fair was well attended by military vehicles, in total there
were 19 or 20 vehicles there although 2 were not in with the rest of us,
there was a 1942 Diamond T wrecker in the commercials section & a 1978
can-am Bombardier in the motorcycle section.
Friday (day 1) saw 9 vehicles in the military section which I thought was a
good turnout for a working day, we had 14 in on Saturday & 14 on Sunday,
it worked out well as the 14 on Sunday were not all the same 14 that
attended Saturday, some people were attending another local event over the
weekend so they did a day at each event.
On
the Saturday evening we took a small convoy of about 12 vehicles down to
Brownstone Battery, a costal defense battery set up in WW2 to protect Start
bay and the Mouth of the river Dart.
MVWF members in attendance numbered 8 but not all were there for all 3 days,
we did get a couple of group photo’s where poor Audrey (fordy) got pounced
on by me & Nige.
